Thought this might be just another thing going in the trash, but I bought it to fix an outdoor metal Christmas tree. These things cost like $150 new so less than $20 to fix it was a good deal. At first, no lights lite, so I removed a bulb, plugged it in to the unit, started pulling the trigger per instructions and all the lights came on except a section. I then used the non contact voltage checker to find where voltage stopped, removed that bulb, checked it and it was out. Replaced it and all light lite. All lights worked for a day so I took the tree outside and set it up. Plugged it in and a different section didn't work. I had a hard time getting it thru patio door so I might have upset something. Again, took one of the unlit bulb out, plugged it into tester, pulled trigger less than 5 times and all lights came back on. All I can say is Wow.
Follow-up Review. Today I put a small 3' tree in my family room. Plugged it in and half the tree didn't light. Removed one bulb from bad section, plugged the light tester in and pulled the trigger just once, and all the lights came on. Replaced the bulb I had removed and saw I had 4 bulbs out. Replaced them with the spares that came with unit and now all bulbs are lite. What a great product.
Ches.

I fell for the false advertising and videos on how to use this thing. It wouldn't work on a 150 light net set that was one third out. Wound up removing the bulbs for spares and throwing out the string. The only thing that works is the bulb tester. Keeping it for that reason. I'll give it a try on a standard light string and if my tree lights go out.

This item has "batteries included" but the batteries were dead so the gun wouldn't work. I reached out to the manufacturer and asked for replacement batteries. They said no and offered to sell me more batteries for a reasonable price of $4. Technically they met their obligation and included batteries, they were just dead. So I promptly returned it and bought a unit from Target.

The best thing I have purchased in years! It has saved me hundreds of dollars in Not having to throw away things with lights all burnt out! Usually a few pulls on the trigger and the string of lights come back on except for bad ones. And the voltage detector feature will help find where there is a problem. JUST THE BEST TOOL!

I put up 17,000 Christmas lights this year so that means a lot of Christmas light string repairs. THIS TOOL IS NOT FOR LEDS, THERE IS A SEPARATE TOOL FOR THOSE. This works great for chasing down problems with traditional incandescent light strings.

Only for incandescent bulb light string. Easy to understand and repair. Saved money by not throwing away the string lights. Sometimes it is just one fused bulb to be replaced and then all bulbs light up. The tester has a bulb puller to remove from socket, bulb & fuse tester and pulse trigger to activate a line. Also act like voltage detector. I like it since every year I can test check my Xmas lights without wasting money in buying up the whole lighting. Just replace bulb.
Cons - Not for lead bulb & lighting.

Disappointed, didn't work as I had hoped. Might work for some people and their lights, just not for mine.
